Music should be fun!

Music should be fun!

Hannah began teaching privately at age 18 in the Athens area. During her time in undergrad, she taught at the University of Georgia Community Music School. This brought in students ranging age 8 to age 67. Hannah's teaching career began properly upon moving to Dallas. She currently serves as a flute instructor for the Richardson ISD (Texas). She currently holds a studio of about 55 students. Her students have won spots in the GMEA District Bands, TMEA Region and Allstate Bands, Greater North Texas Youth Orchestra, and the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra. Beginners are her particular favorite! Hannah struggled with the flute at first, so she is understanding of difficulties students may encounter. She loves to help students discover the joy of music making and aims to enrich the lives of the students she works with.

Enhancing musicality through analysis!

Hannah had no music theory experience before starting her undergraduate degree. Like many students, she was intimidated at first. She quickly found the subject exciting and extremely helpful. During her time at Southern Methodist University, Hannah taught a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate theory classes. She also served as a tutor for the general student population and has also tutored high school students in music theory. Analysis is integrated into her teaching style and flute students will also be introduced to basic theoretic concepts. Hannah specializes in hermeneutics and examining how to use analysis to create musical meaning in performance.
